Florida Scrub Jay
The Scrub
Jay is native to Florida and is found primarily in Florida flatwoods
or scrub areas. This type of habitat is known for its dry lands, sparse
pine, oak and cabbage palm trees. The Scrub Jay has bright blue feathers
with a white patch on the throat. It is very curious and friendly
with humans. It has a raspy call that becomes a sort of clicking chatter.
The Scrub Jay is considered endangered because the flatwood habitat
is disappearing to development.
